It started when Duterte Youth was given a seat in Congress as a partylist.
Duterte Youth and its members are not part of the youth sector and therefore do not represent the Filipino youth and their interests. They also remained unregistered under COMELEC with pending violations. With this, youth organizations from all over the Philippines united to call out DY’s proclamation as a partylist.
From this, the Youth Fight Back alliance was born.
A nonpartisan, national alliance of youth leaders and organizations, Youth Fight Back seeks to push for genuine youth representation in government and to protect the integrity of the country’s democracy.
One of their first resolutions was to file a petition before the Supreme Court to question the constitutionality of Duterte Youth’s proclamation in Congress.
Youth Fight Back continues to organize and take part in campaigns for genuine youth representation in the government.
